I've started building a workbench; the top is laminated 8/4 hard maple, face glued, finished at 3 1/4" thick and 28" x7'. No skirt is planned, however the end vice (LN chain drive) will require a 5 1/4 back jaw permanently attached to the end grain of the laminated top pieces. How would you tackle this taking into account wood movement?
