Random Waves

5 x 7 Sycamore / Walnut / Dye

This piece started as a design study with protruding waves. I experimented with coloring in between the waves a few different times and never liked the results. The Walnut bands began to split a little, so it proceeded to sit on my workbench for months until this inspiration hit me. The inside is dyed the opposite which makes for an interesting effect.

Please comment, keeping in mind it is really just a design study.

I must say I like this idea a lot It hints at the wave effect, but does not interfere with the smooth line vertically. The bowl now allows the viewer to observe the beautiful curve and invites me up to the rim. Thanks for sharing.
