Engraving Guns

I'm trying to get some info on the how to's of engraving guns. I did a search on here and found a couple of threads, but most of them went off on the laws and ATF regulations dealing with being licensed. So I understand there are laws and regulations about it and I will deal with that end of it. My question is will a regular 60 watt CO2 laser engrave (or mark) on gun metal? I'm guessing for Stainless steal you would have to use Cermark, but what about on blued guns? Will the laser mark them? Can you use Cermark on a blued gun or other types of gun finishes?

Plenty of threads that don't deal with just the laws... search for bluing / blueing, rifle, handgun, and a few other similar words and you'll have a number of threads to choose from.
