These are turned from a storm-damaged tree. The end grain of the logs looked like walnut, but upon turning it was more golden and lighter than walnut I've turned. It also had a very strong 'horse' odor. Anyway, any ideas what it is?

The large one is about 10", and the small is 6".
Both are finished with spar varnish.

Looks like elm to me, did it smell kind of funky, if so probably elm. Nice bowls too!

That is really strong grain. It is almost like ash in the contrast but I have not ever seen (or smelled) elm. And the grain is finer than what I expect in ash.

Looks like elm I see on English Furniture.

Elm for certain, colorwise I'd say it is probably Siberian Elm, though not certain on that, smell isn't too bad and will disappear when dry, oh and nice work :)

The first pic looks a lot like Russian olive, and the others like elm.. I vote for elm.

Try on Chinaberry for size if it is really that redish.
