Hi all,Found an old Sears (King Seeley) 9X32, weighs a short ton.Problem is no motor. I have an old 3/4 horse but it is 3500 rpm and that just seems to fast to me. Would something more like 1750 RPM be a better choice? The lathe was free, I do have to get a new spur center and make a table, remove some rust, but now that I am no longer working I have the time! Thanks Scott

Thanks, I had checked there first, did find out the motor was a 5.95$ option, just did not give a size or rpm. I did get the manual that had a parts list that is how I found the part# for the center spur. Can still order a new one for 10 bucks from parts direct. The old part list price was 1.05.

The motor speed is not as important as having the proper pulley ratios to get your lathe turning at safe speeds. That said, a slower speed motor would require less stepping down, etc.
