I need to make a new extension table for my table saw - the current one is past its prime. Dimensions are 27" x 48". Recommendations on MDF vs Particle Board vs Plywood? I am worried about the table sagging over that distance.

Thanks!

I have one made out of MDF with a torsion box underneith that won't let it sag.

Mine is 3/4 MDO plywood, 48 X 96 (aircraft carrier size). No sag because of midspan support. MDO is a nice smooth surface.

27" X 48" sounds like a nice size for a roll around cabinet with drawers that also serves as an out feed table. Mine's a 3-0 X 7-0 solid core door, built as a work bench. Because used doors are FREE, I'm not afraid to fasten something to it using screws. It's a tool, not a shrine!

I like norms router table top style: Dual 3/4" mdf glued and screwed, 1" oak edged, then laminated.
