Anybody out there have an opinion on the Performax 12 inch SCMS?

In general that line is Harbor Freight quality stuff made specifically for Menards.

A coworker bought one. Good saw if you don't know what a saw should do. Sure wish Menards would improve their tools.

SCMS is one area you don't want to go brand cheap on unless your medical insurance is good. The frustration with an inaccurate cut will soon give you a stroke. Dave

So holding out for say...a Ridgid would be a better idea?

Personally, I would get the Makita for nearly the same money. Yes, the Rigid is better than the Performax though.

Festool makes a decent one.

An awesome one, but in a little different price range.

I love my Dewalt for its LED light that casts a shadow line exactly where the cut will be. I also own a Hitachi C12LSH that I could give or take. It is very shallow mounting though which is nice. I would try the Milwaukee next time or go with a second Dewalt.

The performax stuff is not worth it IMO at any price - it flexes - try one in the Menards store. I would not trust cuts on it or the toolshop. There are HF tools much better than the performax line they have.

Yes Definately - or get their Milwaukee.

I would but the goofs have it on such a high rack that you can barely look at it and no way to play with it.

That's the critter. I was thinking of trying to use a HF coupon, but I've never tried and would be bummed if I drove 50 miles to the nearest HD and they wouldn't take the coupon.
