I remember looking on the internet at a tool that would cut tapered circles you would stack and glue up to make bowls, vases, etc. Can't remember what it was called. Help me out in my senior moment??? Thanks!

I think you are thinking of the RingMaster

Thanks, Bill.
Has anyone home built something that that works similar to that for their lathe? I get as much enjoyment out of making a jig or tool that works well as I do out of using it. Open to any ideas!!

Check out Mark Dugenskie's video on band saw. He shows how to cut rings from one piece of wood. Basically you tilt the table and use a standard circle cutter. Of course you have to glue blade entry back together.

I have made bowls of one piece of 3/4" wood using a scroll saw. I once tried a Ringmaster and found that a tremendous amount of sanding is required when using it. Same is true with the scroll saw method. A band saw can work too but a band saw cut is not as smooth as a scroll saw cut is.

I have made a bunch of bowls from a board (some with twists) and always used scroll saw to get the tapers. Below are all made from a single board, cut on scroll saw and then stacked and turned:
