I haven't posted anything in a long time. Here's a piece that I did this last December and entered in the Master Woodworkers Competition at the Beavers Bend State Park in Oklahoma. Maple Burl Stamnos (vase) and Walnut Burl half moon base. 16" widest and @11" tallest. Hollowform is about 1/4" thick and both are finished with WOP and Renaissance wax. The inspiration was a "wet moon" or crescent moon that legend has it pours water out on the earth. Your comments and criticisms are very welcome. TIA, Ken Vonk

That's a really nice piece. I like the vase and the "moon". Is the "foot" carved from the walnut burl, or is it added on?

How did you do in the competition

Eric, the foot was shaped from the same walnut burl and then glued on. I turned the outside and inside of the walnut halfmoon on my lathe. I don't have a good picture of the foot, but this view may help. Also, I made an error in the name. I was supposed to type Wellspring James 5:18, not 5:8. Ken
