Aluminum Bottle Openers for Laser Etching

Hey Guys!

Anybody have a good, low-cost source for colored Aluminum bottle-opener keychains? I would like to start laser etching these but haven't found anything lower than $.50 a piece, and those come pre-etched. I did search before posting this but only found topics from 2009 that were not answered.

Thanks for the link. Ya they really aren't the price I am looking for.

It looks like I may need to go the Alibaba route but I am apprehensive as I haven't used them personally before. I have however had good experience with these things called "co-ops" where one person collects the money from a group of people and places an industrial size order from seller's listed on there. But as I haven't been the co-op runner before I don't have any personal experience with dealing on there.

Well, my supervisor wants to order 100, which I told him is ridiculous if he wants to get them for under $.50. I am thinking the largest we'd want to go is 500, but I did notice that the same bottle opener shown at discountkeychains.com is listed here (http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/620682966/Aluminum_Bottle_Opener_Key_Chain.html) for $.10-$.20 with a minimum of 500 ordered. I am hoping if I order without engraving it would stay at the $.10 but shipping may well drive the price up. But like I said, I am unsure how I should proceed if I am going to be ordering these from China.

My supervisor wants to be able to sell these at $.60 or lower similar to the pricing seen on larger-scale engraving companies, but I know unless you are buying in the 1000's these numbers are hard to match. I have designed an easy jig and should be able to run a little over 200 at a time, so the etching time for each should be fairly minimal.

I find ordering from china is very easy, yet to have a problem! On a side note I have about 8000 of these bloody things, all red, given them FOC and so far managed to sell 1000 by only charging them for engraving and given a few 100 away at trade shows, shame you so far away, i would let you have a box off 1000 for next to nothing, i actually tripped over then last week !!

You may try these guys, call them and ask for blanks. Many ASI Promotional Product companies sell blank products too.
A couple hundered of an item like this is a pretty low quantity. Can shipping be cheap enough from China to make up the difference
on such quantities? Seems like a lot of work to make $60 or so, he must have a bigger plan. :)
