This is a piece of apple cut to 2 1/2" then turned with a small bowl in the board. board part is 3/16 thick bowl is 2" in diameter. Then I wood burned a grouse feather on the board part. 8 coats of antique oil ,then beal buffed.I did enjoy the wood burning and will do more. Ideas from Brian McEvoy DVD on woodburning. Comments welcome!

Nice piece the feather is pretty neat. Could you show a picture of the wing to see how thick and long they are. Whats the dimensions of the over all piece.

That is a little different design for a board in a board! Pretty cool! I like the pyro work!

I have to admit, I was not sure what I was about to see from the title, but was pleasantly surprised. Nice concept that looks well thought out.

George, your work is very good!!!
i keep meaning to use some woodburning on my turnings but never seem to get round to it/remember to have a go at it, I think my problem is that I am somewhat afraid of making a mess/wrecking a decent bowl or hollow form/vase, but then again I will never know if I never give it a go

Keep up the GREAT work George!!!

I love the feather, but this would be fine, too, without it. The bowl itself is great.
