Tom Willing over on the W.o.W. site posted a piece similar to this the other day and my dear wife happened to peak over my shoulder while I was looking at Tom's post.
She liked it enough to proclaim that I had best turn something similar for her to place on her desk at work.
So here's my version of Tom's piece, I actually turned two spheres both of Maple Burl and colored each differently, the blue colored sphere measures apx. 2 3/4"d while the red one is apx. 3 1/2"d the base is turned from some unknown wood from the scrap bin. Still need to turn a second base and of course apply a few more coats of finish then buff.
Enjoy
