Interesting you choose a threaded pipe for the tooling in a press application. Do you risk ruining the threads?

I chose the pipe because it is so adaptable to many toolmaking and machinery designs, look to any Popular Mechanics magazine from the '40's through the '60's, heck they built metalworking lathes, bandsaws, sanders, etc from the stuff. Cheap too!
