You know, I have been trying to figure out a good name for my workshop. I just can't come up with anything that sticks :)

My nickname is Suds or Sudsy, so I was trying to incorporate that, but I couldn't figure out a good name :)

Anyway, looking forward to the names people have..

i named my company "Rebelwork Woodworking"

i was told i should have called it "Rebelwood Woodworking".

i was born north, raised southern and now live in the north.

figure i put a lil southern in my northern work. i think the "rebel" part has helped and not helped bring me work. the job im about to rap up now the guy said he called me first cause he figured i was a southern rebel(hes a Harley rider) ......jack

I actually do have something I've been throwing around for some time, but it will depend upon if I start to sell some of my turnings and small furniture pieces in the future. We'll see...

My shop in Toronto is named: Shed 2

That shop is named after my shop at Pellow's Camp, which is called: The Shed

Michael,

Could this be a relation of yours?

If so, you might be able to say: "... since 1648" on your sign !! :D

When she was just learning to talk, my oldest grandchild decided that Grandaddy had too many 'd's and on her own started calling me Grandy. The name has stuck through all the grandkids so far. The shop, which was just called 'the shop' before, has been named "Grandy's Playpen".

After an occasional splinter, lots of work, and often too much frustration, I've given serious thought to calling it Blood, Sweat, and Tears.

John Bailey

Bailey's Boats(self explanatory) Blades (Kayak Paddles) and Dulcimers (OK, so I couldn't keep the aliteration going). Not very creative, just says what I make.

Instead of "The New Yankee"" workshop I've heard my antics suggest "The Old Cranky" workshop. After finishing the build on my shop a neighbor stopped by and said "What a darling out-building". When I misbehave my wife calls it the "Get the Out Building. John.

Well, since my shop is my "garage" (although there is no room for cars with all the shop stuff in it) I call it "Garage Mahal". Or if I am looking for a place to get away from the females in the house I call it "The He-Man Woman Haters Club". Both are fitting in their own right - it is MY place for seclusion and some privacy where I can get something accomplished - although on a limited basis.

Well I call mine "The Monster Shop". Not because it is big, nor because of all of the recent "Monstor" Shows on TLC. In addition to Woodworking, I like to tinker and build things, namely, I build Monsters, for Halloween display.

Jack Wood

My last name being "Wood" made this an easy one. We call it the "the Woodshed" So being taken to the "woodshed" isn't a bad thing around here!:D

My father's side of the family is Hungarian. When I was younger my Grandfather used to lovingly call me a dumb Hunky, Hunky being slang for Hungarian. I just kind of turned it into the Mad Hunky Workshop, being as I'm a little on the crazy side. Please let it be known, that under no instances should it refer to the fact that my apearance is "hunky".

Since my shop is in a pole barn, we call it "the barn" or "daddy's barn". Pretty creative, eh?

If this were a contest, Garage Mahal would have to get my vote!

As for me, just "the shop." But even when I mention "the shop," i still get that look from people that says "oh, you mean your garage?"

Greg Narozniak

Gregs Garage. I have owned the domain name for 2 years and have yet to build the website for it but it does stick when I mention it to people :)

My Grandfather settled in this area in 1934, calling his farm/ranch Mountain View Farm. We have a picture from the 30's with a nice looking, large sign in it. My father and then my wife and I ran the operation until 1998. When we moved to our new home, I was looking for a name, but my wife insisted on using the old name, so it's Mountain View Farm, Gardens and Fine Woodworking. Here's a pic of the sign and the mountain!

I'd bet you love it when LOML says, "Go to your room!"

Well, as the slab of our "garage" got poured an extra foot wider and two feet longer than the plans called for, the height of the ridge got taller than what I had counted on. This prompted the subs on the job to christen it the
Garaj Mahal.

My nickname is Mo, so I guess the tool/machine filled workshop could be called
The Mo-sheen Shop.

We have been "Ten Fingers Woodworking" for about 20 years and haven't had to change our business cards.

The steel building that houses my shop also has an upstairs that is a game room for the kiddos. The bottom level besides the shop, stores the bikes, tractor, sports equipment, etc. So it is collectively called the "Toy Box"

My business name is "Five Firs Custom Woodworking" which refers to the view out the window of my shop.

Jim Hager
05-04-2005, 8:13 PM
Bonyfingers Woodworks and Crafts but then I changed the name a bit over a year ago to Hager's Custom Woodworks. I'm still a part-timer but one of these days soon I'm gonna go at it full time. The new name is for a more serious approach. I sure did get a lot of mileage out of the Bonyfingers name that I used for several years. My slogan then was "work your fingers to the bone, what do you get, BONYFINGERS. An old Hoyt Axton tune.

"The Sawdust Factory" or, as it grows in size, "Sawdust City," then "Sawdust World."

Ron Smith ... Richmond, VA

and to the point ... mine is called " I. B. Wood " and the name will be transferred to the new shop when it's built. The land we're building on is referred to as "Hickory Nut Hill" by the locals, so there may have to be some slight alterations, but this is the name I've had for it since I first used it back in the Hoosierland.
