i presently have a ridgid tp1300ls. i got it new for ~$200. today, i picked up a NIB r4331 13" planer for $75. now the question is , which do i keep? right now, i have the 4331 on CL, but i wonder if selling the 4331 is really giving up a potentially better machine. i know the technical differences, which amount to 3 blades vs 2 blades and an ejector fan on the 4331. thoughts?

What's to consider? How would it benefit you to keep the TP1300? The R4331 is a more highly specified machine. Both are lunchbox planers, the newer one has better features.

Here's what I would do. Sell both, you should get $500 for both without problem. Buy a used 15" stationary planer.

I'd sell the 4331 and use the money to buy a spiral head for the 1300. The 1300 is a solid little planer. I've abused mine for years and it's still going strong. I have one of these heads installed, which was a great upgrade.

now that's not a bad idea. gotta check that a stationary could fit into the space taken up by the 1300's rollaway cabinet. thanks.

I use a DW734 to tone down the rough stuff then go to my DW735 for final sizing.
I also need the mobile base config, no room in the shop for dedicated planer space.
