11"w x 1 5/8"h Colored outer rim was first dyed black, sanded back then a red applied over top. The textured rim was done with the pyography pen and this area is highlighted by the use of some small turned beads, the inner part of the bowl is undercut to the rim.
Finished with several coats of wipe on poly.

C & C Welcome

I love the contrast on the piece. I'm especially impressed with how the figure was highlighted by the on the outer rim by the initial black stain. I'm going to have to try that.

Nice large rim to display the wood and color. The black beads are great contrast and frame the natural color of the wood. Thanks for sharing and I really enjoy viewing your talente work.

Wow did you get a great finish on this! I love the coloring of the red (of course red is my favorite..so I'm biased towards that color!).

Fantastic! The color as others have mentioned is perfect, and the pyrography does a wonderful job of delineating the color and non color areas. Very appealing - a meal served on that platter would surely taste better than the same meal served on a plain plate!!

I really like the effect on the outer rim. Your method makes the maple figure pop. What kind of dye did you use? Aniline dye? Water soluble or NGR?
