Anyone have an idea what a simple (3" square legs, 3"/3/4" aprons and 3/4" top)mahogany table with dimensions of 55" X 32" X 30" would weigh?? I have someone asking about shipping weight and I don't have anything near that size to guesstimate from.

Thanks,
Jim

If the legs are fixed and can't be removed for shipping, you are most certainly getting into a case of "dimensional weight". You're going to pay for the volume, not the actual weight, so be sure to plug package dimensions into any shipping calculator (probably a good 4"-6" bigger in each direction than the table itself).

As to the weight of the table, though, I make out the volume of wood to be about 1.548 cu. ft. so you could take the density and work it out from there.

According to the USDA Encyclopedia of Wood, mahogany ranges from 30-52 lb/ft3 ==> 46.4 lbs to 80.5 lbs.

Thanks for the help. I should be able to make a reasonably good estimate.

Thanks,

I'd be curious to hear the estimate when you get it, including insurance.
