I made a few tongue drums for grandkids but they were just rectangular boxes. So I got a wild hair and decided to try a round one. This is what I came up with. It's made from a plain old Home Depot redwood 2x6. It's 12" diameter and 7" tall. The walls and bottom are about 1/2" thick, the top about 7/8" thick. It doesn't have the same sound as the redwood rectangular drums I made, more muted. Might be that the top is thicker wood. There's a science to the tuning and tone of tongue drums that I haven't figured out yet. But I've had fun making them.

Very cool Curt. Nothing like making a drum for the grandkids then sending them home with it!
