I'm about to install the Wixey WR550 on my Powermatic 15HH planer. Any special advice about this install? Any tricks beyond the Manual instructions? I have not used Wixey products before.

I just completed the same install a couple weeks ago. There is a thread somewhere on the web for it; if you can't find it send me a PM and i will send you photo. It is not hard, and the unit works just as advertised.

As an aside, I have the 15hh and was surprised the electronic depth gauge was an option on other versions of this planer, but not this one. Any reason why beyond marketing?

I installed one this week on my 1950's Powermatic 100 planer, I didn't not use the screws that came with it and instead simply used heavy duty double sided tape to install it. I don't have much use of it yet, but from the little testing I did, I didn't have any issues.

Jim - I bought the Powermatic depth guage for the 15HH and it is junk IMO.

Clay - got it all mounted hooked up and running. It works great and looks like it was born on the planer. Easy installation. Thanks.

When I got my planer, it specifically indicated the HH could not be ordered with one on the price list, glad to know I did not miss anything. :) With the pretty poor quality tape gauge on the planer, an electronic readout would be nice.

Bob, glad to be of help. Did you end up mounting it at right rear side, like I did? Mine was an easy install, and it works great!

For those looking for an easy to install, use and seemingly very accurate depth guage I can recommend the Wixey WR550 particularly if you have a Powermatic 15HH planer and install it on the right side. It's also really helpful to get feedback from Creekers on this forum.
