Finally something for me.....a coffee canister made from alder and big enough to hold 2 pounds of coffee beans.

That turned out very nice. Very good looking alder. I hope that it doses not change shape around the lid.

Tom,
What a nice place to keep you coffee beans in. Love the figure and the matching grain through the top . Well Done.

Really nice canister. Really like the wood and how you kept the grain matched.

Really nice, a coffee canister has been on my to-do list for some time, need to get off my lazy butt and do it, thanks for the inspiration.

Very nice there is some great figure in that wood. Making one is on my to do list as well. I just need a piece of wood big enough and dry enough to do it.

Thanks for all the nice comments, I have been wanting to make this for awhile just been busy, I am big time coffee drinker, and always hated not having a decent place to store my beans. Coffee grinder to match next on my personal list. This alder came from my HOH river property when we cleared for our cabin - ( work in progress hopefully be done in time for retirement )

It's beautiful. 2 pounds is pretty big. What are the dimensions?

Sorry my bad, its size is 6.75 x 9.75 with lid x 1/4 + a bit thick. Used the Monster Hollowing tool to hollow it. Poly outside, & 1 coat behlen salad bowl finish inside just to seal it.

Very nice work! Always fun to see turned items that show off the grain and are functional at the same time! Love that curl!!

Very nice, now you need a scoop to fill the grinder you are going to make!

I keep my beans in a sealed plastic container (I like to see at a glance how near empty the cannister is) but do have a measuring scoop that I turned! I need to make a new one though, I upgraded to a 12 cup pot and the scoop really only measures enough for a 8 cupper.

I like that a lot. Very pretty alder and a nice shape as well. Our beans live in an antique enamel double stacking canister set with the sugar in the top canister. Looks good and works well but I like yours better. My wife collects antique enamelware in the white and cobalt blue colors. Maybe I should try to duplicate it in wood...
