This was mostly an experiment to see how difficult these stools are to make so I used Red Oak for both the seat and the legs. It was easier than expected to fit the parts together. The legs and braces seem too heavy on this one and the shape may be too simple. 19" tall with the seat being 11-1/2" dia. Comments and critiques welcome.

Really nice looking stool. The legs and braces may seem a little heavy but I like the way it looks.

Looks like a good solid stool. I do not see any pegs in the legs or braces - any used? Does Allan have a plan on his website?

Looks like something I want to copy.

so good to see something different posted. I don't think it's too sunstantial..looks like it will do the job for many, many years. thanks for posting

Love those practical uses of woodturning. I made a similar one some years ago, but taller. It was a little tippy with three legs and the seat needed to be wider to accommodate my posterior. Looks like you beat both of those problems. Great work and thanks for sharing

That's a great looking stool. I need something like that in my shop!

Nice job there Dennis. The legs and braces don't seem like they are too bulky, as least in the picture. What angles did you bore the hole for the legs? The braces?

Bill: the legs are angled 10 degrees.
