I'm planning on buying a pneumatic stapler, 7/16" wide staples, and would like to know what length of staple is recommended to attach 1/4" plywood to the back of 3/4" plywood cabinets.

Any recommendations? The stapler I am looking at can take 1/2" to 1 1/2" long staples.

I have a brad nailer and finish nailers, but it sounds like staples are the best way to go. The plywood will also be glued.

Hi Todd.

I usually use 3/4", driven @ a slight angle towards the center of the 3/4" ply sides when the 1/4" back is set into a rabbet.

When there is no rabbet, I'll do a full overlay of the back and still use a 3/4" staple.

+2 for 3/4". 1" for brads for me. But just bought box of 5k at HD so it will be 3/4" for while...

1" or 1 1/4" inch depending upon application. I build cabinets for local Y. I use 1/4" crown staples. Cheapest gun for the money is HF's brad / stapler for less than twenty bucks. Forget about using brad feature unless you enjoy filling holes.

Oops, I guess it takes 1/4" wide staples not 7/16" like I stated in my original post, 1/4" wide is still OK, right?

Yep, 1/4" crown is good. It's what I shoot.

I thought 7/16" sounded kinda wide, but I have 2 staplers that shoot 7/16" wide crown, however I use them for siding / rough construction. (Just used it today as a matter of fact, attaching 7/16 OSB to a corner of a garage prior to the bricklayers coming over tomorrow)

I have a ton of 1.25" so that's what I use.
