Hi, all -
I'm sure you all have projects that have just seemed to drag. This one is my new record for longevity. Started in 2003 as part of a slew of Christmas presents, I made this little bandsawn box. Nothing Earth-shattering or spectacular, but I wanted to make something for my then-1-year-old daughter. Glued up, cut out, Christmas came, box sat on the back of the bandsaw table. For a long time.
The box would migrate in the garage, and every time I'd clean up, it'd resurface. I'd think to myself, "I ought to clean that up and finish it for Maddie for Christmas this year." And then it'd go into hiding again, until the next clean-up. Somehow, 9-1/2 years crept along, and the box, while not suffering any dastardly fate, never progressed. Until now. Found it again right before Christmas, and got after it. Sanded, scraped, oiled, waxed, flocked. Done. Signed it and gave it to her yesterday. She was tickled. And the box, which has sat so dutifully for so long in the cold garage, now has a purpose.
