I'd like to buy (or make) a simple drinking fountain for a cat. What's a good model fountain that I can use if I intended to change the water every day?

I've read reviews of cat fountains on Amazon and concluded that most cat fountains are intended to run for several days without attention. I don't really want that feature. I want one that is simple to pick up, dump out and refill without getting into heavy lifting or a balancing act. I don't want one where the bowl has the electric cord running through the side or bottom of it - I'd like to avoid potential leaks.

I realize that any fountain with a motor would need a filter and that the pump and filter would have to be cleaned. I'd like that chore to be simple too.

We've been using this one for a couple of years with good success; http://www.amazon.com/Cat-Mate-335-Pet-Fountain/dp/B001TY5D6C/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1357644988&sr=8-1&keywords=cat+mate+water+fountain

It meets most of your criteria in that it is stable, easy to clean, and the cord does not go through the bowl. We clean it about every third day and it only takes a couple of minutes.

Can not get much simpler. For every day use, I do not use the filters or bottles.
For extended use I simply add the bottle back on.http://www.glacierpointforcats.com/images/jackdrinksbasicnewsm.jpg

I just bought one of these Paul. Pricey, but made with excellent material, in the USA, great warranty and free shipping going on now.

We have a Catit we purchased from Amazon. The cats seem to like licking the dome better than one of the other styles we used to have.

Good luck finding the best one for your cat(s).
