I read several posts last week on a thread that I can't find again thru my lack of computer skills. One of you campers had found a site to buy Timber Wolf blades at really good prices. I was in a hurry and thought to come back later. HELP!!!

Skip the timberwolf blades and get the good stuff; Lenox from www.woodcraftbands.com (http://www.woodcraftbands.com)

I don't know about a SMC thread, but try this link http://www.suffolkmachinery.com/ or http://www.timberwolfblades.com/

This is direct from the manufacturer, so their prices are about as good as you can get.

I think it would be best for you to check Haltbar blades on www.sawblade.com . I've been using these blades for more than 3 years already. I've tried using different blades but I broke some of it, maybe it's too poor.

I've had the Timberwolfe and they are fine. Great price point and last a decent time. Now for glass smooth finish, you can't beat the Laguna carbide blade. I've had that one now for a long time and the glass smooth finish is off the charts. Not cheap but you get what you pay for. Call them and mention you are a member here and there is a significant discount for being a SC member. Good luck.

The O.P. didn't specify what kind of saw. Don't Laguna carbide blades require more tension than 14" cast iron bandsaws can reliably muster? Carbide bands can produce a finish comparable to a cabinet saw but I thought they worked best on heavy duty 14" saws such as the Laguna 14SUV or larger. For resawing on cast iron 14" saws I'd look at the Atlanta Sharptech based blades with little set -- woodslicer, kerfmaster, bladerunner etc. They won't last as long and may not cut quite as smooth but tensioning them would not be an issue. Some here have resharpened these blades with a dremel-type machine and report good results.

Carbide blades need high tension to perform their best. MM16, and maybe the SUV series of small saws. Resaw King is a better bet with smaller saws with it's thinner band. Dave
