Here is the finished product of the earlier post. I turned the base on the 4224b. It has the same pattern on the legs as well. It is cedar that I milled on the sawmill. It look decent, and now I know what it looks like. Not sure if I will try another one or not, it was a fun little project. Comments are welcome. Russell

Nice job on the bench I really like the turned top. Just for info how fast did you turn the top, that had to be a +10 pucker factor.

Nicely done Russell. That's some pretty wood and an interesting concept. I'd bet most woodworkers would look at your bench and think you did it with a router and not a lathe. You'll have to keep a picture of it spinning to convince the skeptics:)

I bet you are right, Ted. He did it with a router then took a picture of it mounted on the lathe, added some blur with photoshop, and we are all impressed!:D

Thanks for the responses. I just had to see it turn once I thought about it. It was running at 149rpm's, and yes it did sound like a propeller. I made sure the speed was on zero when I first cut it on. It was unnerving at first, then I got bold enough to do the outside ring. For the non believers I do have a video on my phone, you will have to come visit to watch. Michael it is good to see you posting at the Creek, I hope you will show off some of you and Cynthia's projects.

Josh, maybe you need to invite Russell up there to demonstrate his technique. Just make sure you're insurance is paid up!
