Has anyone had a problem with magnetic starters on a powematic dust collector? Mine has now burned up the contacts for the third time. It does not seem to be a wiring problem, as the first one went out at our old home, the second one went out in the basement of our new home, and now the third one has gone out in my new shop. Could it be the mag starters they are using are to light for the 3hp motor?

I suspect you are on the right track. I would start by googling the make and model number of the starter to see what the manufacturer rates it at. I assume you are running 220V?
