I need some help finding information on Ogonte Tool Co.I have a wooden plane stamped OGONTE TOOL CO #13. It is 2 3/4 X 2 5/8X 16.The blade is 2 and marked D.R. Barton & Co. Rochester,N.Y.
Also any information on restoring this plane would be appreciated.

I believe that the Ogontz tool company used prison labour somewhere on the eastern seaboard of the US, and was owned by the Sandusky tool co. I say 'believe' as I got this information third hand, if I'm wrong out there anyone, please correct me.

Re how to fix this plane, see attached thread:

with apologies for referral to a third-party thread. Saves a fair amount of retyping

Bob Nelson's invaluable "Dictionary of American Toolmakers" places them in the 1885-1920 era and adds the following:

"This was a brand name of the Sandusky Tool Co. One plane thgey made was patented 6 Jan. 1885 by W. F. Achenbach, Lebanon, PA."

No the eastern seaboard, though; Sandusky is in Ohio.
