Hi All,

I inherited an old lathe from my brother-in-law. There are a few things that came along with it that I have no idea what are for or how to use.

First up (no picture): 6" face plate with a 3/4-10 threaded bore (Lathe has a 1-8 bore). Is this in any way usable for anything with my lathe? I have another faceplate with a 1-8 bore.

Next: spur center of some sort. Has a 5/8" hole on the back that I don't THINK is tapered. Has two set screws, I assume one for the pin center and one for a shaft.

Last: I have no idea. Threads are 5/8-18.

Thanks in advance!

1) 3/4-10 is the thread size of a oneway live center so maybe it could be used to mount jamb blocks on the live center.
2) that is part of a pen end-mill. There should be different sized rods that fit into it that go into your created pen blanks to true up the ends before turning. You can see a new one here: http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?page=18001
3). I have no idea.

Welcome to the hobby.

+1 on Greg's thoughts. The pen mill will take several different diameter reamers
