My mother in law gave me a $100 LV gift card for Christmas. And i am building a 6' workbench and want a leg vise and a wagon vise.
Well let me start again by building i mean i have the some of the lumber for the bench in the workshop some of it is cut, but its been cold and i have had a cold and then Christmas so i should be building the bench around June or July if I'm lucky. But Lee Valley has free shipping til Jan 7 and i want to go ahead and order before that card finishes burning a hole in my back pocket.

I have a Veneer Press Screw on my current Leg vise.I though i could use it on the new bench's wagon vise and order a new screw for the new Leg vise.

So my questions are
1. Which screw of the leg vise ?

2. Should i use the Veneer Press Screw or order a New one for the wagon vise ?And which screw should i order for the wagon vise?

I HOPE EVERYONE HAS HAD A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS

Both ;-)

Use the tail vise screw for the wagon vise. I have a veneer press screw on my wagon vise, but I plan on swapping to the shoulder vise screw. The veneer press screw I'm using it kind of long and tends to slide around in use. A second benefit of the shoulder screw is that you can attach the chop to the screw easily.

I used the LV tail vise screw for both my leg vise and wagon vise. Works great for both.

I have your #2 choice as my wagon vise screw now. I'm using another similar one for a wagon vise on a new bench. It's one from Lie-Nielsen. http://www.lie-nielsen.com/catalog.php?grp=1512

I used the longer screw for my leg vise.

You need to turn the rear guide around to mount it on the fixed portion of your vise.
I've never had it run out more than 8", but it's handy to have that extra reach.

FYI - I drove out the retaining pin and replaced the traditional handle with a cast iron wheel ordered off eBay.
It spins in and out without much resistance. I kept getting my pants pockets caught on the original handle.

Another option to consider for the leg vise is the Benchcrafted hardware. www.benchcrafted.com
