Big Thanks to Doug Swanson!

Doug and his family stopped in for a visit this past August (see this thread (http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?190468-My-Creeker-Visit-with-Steve-Schlumpf&highlight=)) – which was a lot of fun! – and after the shop tour, we did the traditional wood swap! Doug left me a variety of sealed logs that I can turn into either bowls or HFs and I gave Doug a small bag full of kiln dried curly and birdseye maple that were just the right size for bottle stoppers or something small. I had hoped the kids would help Dad out with turning them… but I am sure school life is hectic at this time of year!

I was very surprised Friday when the mail arrived and I received a box from Doug. Inside I found this beautiful birdhouse ornament that Doug turned for us! :D

Glad the ornament arrived safely. It was just a token of my appreciation for the wood that you gave me. The wood works great for these ornaments and I've even used it for some stoppers and bottle openers. I've still got a small stash left for other projects.
