A little gloat.:)

About 10 years ago, I bought an old Disston back saw. It came to me with missing teeth and the handle was in pieces.
I didn't know about making handles like the ones we've seen in this forum.

I did cobble together a handle made of cherry. I had the saw sharpened, but it was never right.
I have several LN saws (carcass and dovetail). I don't like these saws for making tenons. I wouldn't part with the saws, but really wanted a tenon saw.

The old saw is about a 1876 - 78 vintage. I think so from looking at the brass nuts.

I decided to re-tooth the saw as a 11 tpi saw. I severely jointed the saw plate, removing all of the teeth and sharpened new teeth at 11 tpi.

It now cuts smoothly and tracks perfectly, making cutting tenons a breeze.

That has to be a highly rewarding experience. How about a few details on the saws dimensions?

The saw plate is 3"X 11 1/2". It's a bit small for a tenon saw, but I like the way it cuts.
