I have no idea, but I do have a Sargent Plane book on order -- in transit, actually -- so I may have something usefull to say in a few days.

My Sargent Planes: Identification and Value Guide arrived today!
Unfortunately, I still have no idea how the Autosets compare to Bedrocks, as the book just doesn't make qualitative comparisons with other brands. :(
I can tell you that the Autosets are among the very most "collectible" of Stanley planes, particularly the #707, #707C, and #711C.
Also, the Autosets in general are similar to Stanley's "Gage" planes, but the relevant Sargent patents are actually older than those of Stanely.
