Apparantly the world will end in about 7 hours. I spent all day getting ready by charging as many things as possible on my credit card, knowing I would never have to pay for them.

Just in case they are reading the Mayan calendar wrong, and the Mayan tour guide who took us to some pyramids a couple weeks ago just snickered, I only bought things I could return.

By the way, the guide explained to us about how the calendar was cyclical, and if they were still around, it is just the start of another cycle.

On the other hand, if the world ends in the morning, you won't be reading this anyway.

I wanted to do a little star gazing since there's supposed to be a planet alignment that happens only once every 20-something thousand years on the 21st.
Wouldn't you know it, a storm front moved in and it's all cloded over for the next two days...
I'll have to wait for the next one to roll around i guess.

The important thing is to check your pulse every once in a while, or breath on a mirror. Just to see if you are alive.

I do this regularly to make sure that I have not slipped into the Twilight Zone, but it also works for world endings.

A couple of days ago I watched an expert on Mayan history and writings (he has studied and translated their writings for decades) being interviewed and he was saying that we invented the 'end of the world' stuff here in this country and that the Mayans never mention the end of the world or Dec 21st in any of their writings and that their calendar continues on into the future for centuries to come.

Sounds good to me.

So what are you saying Joe, my computer is working in heaven? I had hoped heaven would be nothing like work......it seems the same.

Oh, no,

I woke up, and I'm still here. That means I have to pay for all that stuff I bought yesterday.

I'll bet the Lee Valley calendar comes out now that they know it's ok.

While the end of the Mayan empire ended quite some time ago, there are still many many descendants of the Mayans alive and well.

Well, unless you didn't quite make it to heaven...... My version of heaven certainly won't include work.

I wonder what's in store next?
I dragged out my Y2K "survivor kit" for the 2012 Apocalypse.
Now It looks like I'll have to stick it back in the dresser drawer for the next big event that rolls around.
