Turned this on sunday from some of that soaking wet mesqutie. Let it sit in the shop until tonight so the surface could dry enough for sanding.
Need a few more pieces for Christmas gifts and the mesquite works great since I can finish it green and not worry to much about movement, so I guess I'm not quite finished turning mesquite for awhile!

It's 9 1/2" x 2" with a coat of walnut oil.

WOW Kathy, I love this. Great job on the wide rim and the bead looks terrific, the form is top notch as usual. I can see why you love that mesquite!

K,

I do like the rim and beading, and the sloped rim to "lead" you to the contents..........nice contrasting wood, which I also like.

Kathy, you always do such a nice job laying out your pieces to contrast the heartwood and sapwood. This form reminds me of the collection plates at church, but I can see a number of other uses. Lovely rim and bead.

I like it K! It does remind me of the collection plates @ church, and the contrast of the sapwood/heartwood really sets it off!

The combination of colors is eyecatching on this one. You may get somewhat tired of turning mesquite but I don't get tired of looking at it!

Kathy,

I really like this, the shape with the detail of the bead and the grain patterns are a knockout, great job.

Nice work Kathy! Pretty wood. I really like how you softened the edges on the rim and the bead. Makes the whole piece - in my opinion!

Lovely piece Kathy, I like the wood of course, who wouldn't, and also how the the bowl is set apart from the lower placed wide rim, a lovely piece :)

Beautiful bowl Kathy, the wood is spectacular and the bead detail around the bowl really adds a nice touch.

Love the bead around the rim. It's also a pretty piece of Mesquite....

The bead on rim caught everyone's eye, but nobody mentioned the little bead-like foot on bottom almost a mirror image of the top bead. I like all of it.
