Here's Sweet Pea and Boo Boo, relaxing on their sofa. Their hobbies are smelling stuff, barking, and occasionally digging holes. Both beagles, relaxing in their favorite spot.

Anybody else want to post some pictures of their "man's best friend"?

My 120lb pony likes to help clean up gravy spills from the counter. She also likes to clean up anything that happens to hit the floor.

This is Farley, a 55 pound white Standard French Poodle that is the 5th white standard my wife and I have had since 1966. He can swim, hunt, point, and retrieve quite well, with training. Full poodle teams have also finished high several times in the Iditarod Alaskan sled dog race. He loves being outside, and is naturally friendly around the house and with all age groups. Teaching and training is a snap.

It's always fun to see woodworkers and their dogs. This seems to go hand in hand with tools around here.
We lost our old girl, would have been 12 next Sunday, to cancer in September. So we are down to 3. 8 year old Tainy aka Taineron's Tango At Coolmeadow 248274 (Coolmeadow is our kennel name), 14 month old Jett 248276 (the first of about 200 rescue dogs that have crossed our threshold that didn't leave), and soon to be 1 year old Ryder, aka Jadestar Stetson. 248275 (this is a pic from when we got him last spring). Ryder is the new show pup. This is a picture with both pups, mostly grown up. 248279 Yes, Ryder really is asleep in that position. One of the few minutes in any given day that they aren't playing!!! Here's our Mandy, She joined our family when she was a year old, she's 10 now. She's a very good dog. She's originally from Pennsylvania. She likes to come out to she shop when my wife and I have coffee out there but otherwise she doesn't like the noise of the shop.

This is my buddy. He is a European German Shepherd and a retired police K9 for the agency I work for. I was his handler. He is 7 1/2 years old, and was an excellent narcotic/aggression/tracking dog. Kept me out of alot of fights. He is my dog now, and we let him breed our female Shepherd this summer. All I was wanting was a male pup, but was gifted with 7 females!! Gonna give it one more try, as I somehow think he won't mind. Oh, by the way, his name is "Henry". I did not name him, he came from Germany with that name, karma I guess.

Upper left, the latest addition, Sophia, a candidate for a Marley duplicate trouble maker!

lower left, Bella, miniature poodle, little dog, big heart, thinks she's one of the big guys!

lower right, Jake, the old guy. While we were building the cabin he was great company on those long 300 mile midnight treks.

Yes, but they're working on it. Actually, the three color dogie is looking pretty good right now, the blondie is a little plump. These dogs will eat whatever they can get, whenever they can get it. We'll put them on a diet, but not until after Christmas.

Do your dogs chase anything? Mine just sniff at rabbit and deer, but if they get a whiff of fox they go insane, with the super loud, high pitch screaming (it's not really barking). It's really fun, and I'm sure they have woken up the neibors more than once.

Ours are 'rescues', but Paisley, the one on the left was obviously a hunter. She'll chase anything that moves. She's caught baby rabbits, birds (go figure) even young opossum.

Several times, my wife has came in and said she killed a baby opossum, it's on the patio. And I go look and there's no body. I say "Sure she did!" "Have you heard of playing Possum?" The wife doesn't think I'm funny.

Everyones animals are terrific. It's amazing how animals are involved in out lives.

This is Boba.

At 6 months, he's forty pounds.

His mother was a rescue with an unknown pregnancy,
is barely 20 pounds.

His father (whereabouts unknown) was apparently a contortionist.

I see you chose sensibly sized smaller dogs for your home.
It's also clear that you carefully selected for coat color to make sure all
surfaces will receive both salt and pepper seasoning.

My brother in law once housed two Leonbergers at the same time.
On my only visit, I complemented his carpet only to be informed
that there home was entirely tiled.

Oops, didn't see your question earlier - sorry. I have no clue what kind of dog he is. We got him at the pound when he was 7. When people ask me what kind of dog he is, I reply, "He's a black dog."

Mike

[Oh, one more story. Sometimes when I'm out with Skipper, maybe sitting having a cup of coffee, some women will come up to him (he's a chick magnet) and start gushing - "Oh, he's soooo cute," and "What a sweetheart." I always respond the same way, "Yeah, and the dog is pretty nice, also!"]

Here they are -- Chloe on the left and Cookie on the right. I never thought I would like owning white fluffy dogs but was out-voted by by wife and daughter. I have to admit I have grown very fond of these two. Hard to think these are descendents of wolves.

Here's most of my crew , I'll have to add another post to get the rest.

These are the adults, Taker (pups dad), Lacey (Taker's sister), Holly (pups mom). They are Schipperkes (little black devils).
248754248753248759

These are the pups (10 months). Tried for a group shot, but it was hard enough just getting one or two of them to stay still long enough to take a pic.
Max, Rosey, DeeDee (the runt) and Max and Junior.

Here's the feline crew.

I guess you could say names are not my strong point .

Kittie #1 shorthaired tabby, Kittie #2 longharied tortie, Kittie #3 shorthaired dilute tortie. I guess they know their names because they all come running when I call "here kittie"!

Here are the current critters.

Pi is a rescue dog (found as a puppy running around a park after being dumped). He is deaf. But other than that, he is a great little dog. Perfect shop dog too, no reaction to loud noises. He is about 50 lbs of muscle. SWMBO refers to him as "Pocket Hercules" after Naim Suleimanov.

249420249421

The doberman is my son's dog, Legoz. He and Pi are great buddies. Here they are returning from their romp in the dog park. Legoz is ~90 lbs (pretty big for a doberman). legoz loves nothing better than to wrestle with Pi.

249422
The last dog is Tommy. He passed two years ago. He was the best dog ever. One hundred and five pounds of muscle but the gentlest disposition. He had nothing to prove. He would fetch from the ocean all day long. I was confident when traveling that Tommy would protect my family.

249419

I wasn't sure I could have another dog after he passed. But Pi rescued us.

It's great to see everyone's animals, I love seeing stuff like this. We have a little zoo here.
Me and Bon Ton (short for Laissez Les Bontemps Roulette, means let the good times roll, also the name of one of my favorite bars in New Orleans, where I used to live.) Back when she was a young pup, brought in as a stray that was wondering around our appartment complex parking lots for quite a while. She's a good bit older now, 13 I think, still my shop dog and best friend short of my wife.
249541
Remington, big boy poodle. I wasn't thrilled with my wife's choice on Remi, I mean come on....a poodle, but he was a hell of a great dog, loved him to death. He was 32" at the shoulder and 80 lbs, so he was a big boy. Unfortunately we lost him just about a year ago.
249546

Duncan, a Doberman/schnauzer mix. Sounds weird, but he's a handsome boy and a real sweetheart. And yeah, that's about his normal expression. "I don't know what the heck is going on and I don't know if I like it much"
249547
And Percy, our newest guy, Pit/Lab mix as far as we can tell. Total goof ball and another real sweetheart. Following that pitbull stereotype, he's a vicious monster! Ok, no he's actually kind of a wuss and a total lover which is a pit stereotype to folks who have actually dealt with pits. He's trying desperately to deal with shop noises so he can come out with dad and be a shop dog too.
249548
Guinness, older cat. The day we brought her home. You'll notice the cats are all named after beer. I didn't used to like cats, so that was my perk for getting the first one, and now it's just kind of tradition.
249549
And now, she's gotten a little bigger and yes, she's my shop cat.
249550
Murphy, one of the goofiest cat's I've ever dealt with. Mouthy as all get out and will tolerate ANYTHING if it means she's getting attention.
249551
And finally Mackeson, the youngest one. Yeah, none of them are, but she really just ain't right in the head, just saying.
249552
We've had a bunch more over the years, a couple of other cat's fish, mice, etc. But this is our current zoo, and Remi, who gets an honorable mention even though he isn't with us anymore.

Since the kids are grown my wife has replaced them with these guys. Six of them total all rescues.

Jake is the brown one in front. He came to use with a broken leg.
Luke is under him with the brown on the paws.
Chelsey is just behind Luke buried under the pile. Those two are related and found in a ditch.
Destiny was dropped off by someone in the subdivsion and smelled like a skunk.
And Sammy is the brown and white one to the right. He was the neighbors dog but they kept it chained up in the back yard in the middle of a water puddle so my wife took him.
Koda was the last to come and not sure what her story was. After a while you kind of stop asking.
