30.06 Bullet from CSUSA, which is not all that unusual. The barrel is Montana rasberry soapstone. As soon as I pressed the cap...fracture...as soon as I pressed the tranny...fractures. Now I'm stuck with having to glue, sand and polish with the clip/cap in place. It brought a good price, but not that good!!! The ends were trimmed with a barrel trimmer Thanks for looking!

Jim, you're a glutton for punishment...but you turn out some wonderful pens. This is pretty cool. I guess next time you'll have to work for a slip fit?? and then just CA the piece in??

Sorry for your troubles. Looks good, though.

Didn't realize that the soapstone was that fragile! Must have been pretty thin! Great looking pen - congrats on your sale!

Yeah, from my reading, stone is usually turned for a slip fit and glued like Tim suggested. I've been looking around recently to get my hand on some soapstone, but I haven't pushed too hard as I have so many wood blanks on hand. I like the color!
