I was fortunate to find a walnut burl on Craigslist but now I'm not sure what to do with it. Need your suggestions! The lady gave it to me at no charge with the understanding that I would make her a small bowl. This is a large burl that was originally about 30" long by about 18" diameter. Unfortunately, the burl has been cut into slabs that vary in thickness from 3" to 1". Not sure how to make much of a turning with these thin sections! The burl has some holes from old rot and insects. The burl has been inside for about 6
years, so it is very dry. There are also 6 small cutoff pieces that were the outside "bumps" on the burl. Suggestions!!

Looks to me like you will have to mount using glue blocks in order to get the full use of the wood! I would mark off some blanks with chalk or crayon and figure out how to get the most out of it.

Use the 1" for pens, or segmented accent rings in bowls. Small areas around the rot can be used for Christmas ornaments and boxes.

1" thickness is plenty for a plate/platter up to 16" in diameter, based on personal experience.

+1 on this. I have turned a small plate with a 3/4" thick board I found in the store! And I put a tenon on the back of it to turn it!

Glue blocks work great and that might be your best option for some pieces.

+1 on what everyone has said... Platter, shallow bowls/plates, and pens and bottle stoppers with the small pieces.

Bandsaw it into 1/8" veneer and sell it to me... :)

Thanks for all the replies. You've helped me visualize some projects. Zach, I would be willing to sell one or two of the pieces, but I don't have a bandsaw capable of sawing thin veneer. Let me know.
