Here's a collaborative piece from Steve Sinner & myself . It's Spalted Maple. It's 23 1/2" Tall & 9 3/4" dia.
It has heavy spalting & lots of worm holes.
This is quite a change from most of our collaborative's.
We do a lot of pieces together but usually don't turn any thing with worm holes or spalting.
Usually we would throw a piece of wood like this away. 247256

Thanks Charlie. No it's the same wood. This was turned from a pretty punky log yet the center was fairly solid & hadn't spalted yet.

That's an outstanding piece of art. I'd be interested in how you hollowed at that depth - what hollowing system or tools were used.

Really bueatiful shape and the wood is wow. That is a deep vase for sure. Share with us your mounting methods and hollowing tools if you will. We could all learn from this piece of work. Very unique and outa the box.

I'm happy you guys decided to turn that one. It looks fantastic. The lines really compliment the wood.

the shape is just different enough to make it appealing, and add the wood & it's a winner
