I was working in a new file in Corel and didn't back up my work yet (I know, I know) and it crashed. The recovery/ save wizard popped up and it said it saved the file to the Corel back up files.

So now I am wondering how to find what I was working on? Where do I find the corel back up files and what do I look for since I hadn't named the file yet?

This is from X6:

To recover a backup file
http://www.sawmillcreek.org/images/BtnBacktoTopProc.gif (http://www.sawmillcreek.org/#wppagetop)

1.

Restart CorelDRAW.

2.

Click OK in the file recovery dialog box that appears.

The file recovery dialog box appears upon startup after a system error.

3.

Save and rename the file in the specified folder.

Recovered files are named GraphicsX.cdr, where X is the numbered increment.

If you click Cancel, CorelDRAW ignores the backup file and deletes it when you quit the application.

The first thing I would do is open the file from the wizard and immediately save it. I think it stores it in the last folder you saved a file in. You can also set Corel up to do an automatic backup every x minute (you set the time) and in a specified file.

Hope this helps.

I am using CorelDraw 11. How do you get the recovery dialog box to show up, if it has it?

Also I have the program installed on the D drive I have tried finding it through instructions I have found online but because it is on the D drive rather than the C I can't find the files.

According to the memory options menu it should be saving to C/Documents/joe/local/temp but when I go to look for it there is no local file under joe.

Why does it delete it? In this day and age with tons of space on hard drives, and Corel files are ussually small
could it just save it to an ovious folder on the desktop? That way you could archive them or delete them at any time.
