I have a fairly new Bosch GTS 10 bench top table saw. It works fine except that it makes a lot of noise and I live in a residential area and the room in which I work is not sound proof. Is there some way to reduce the noise level in a bench top table saw. I would be very grateful if someone could tell me what to do. Many thanks.

You've got a right to lead your life too....make your cuts between 9am and 9pm, you should be fine as long as it not constant.

To get a quieter saw, I think you're going to need to switch to a saw with an induction motor (no brushes)... preferably belt drive. Most are full size and heavier, but some of the older 8" or 9" saws are smaller, and have belt drive induction motors. The new Grizzly G0732 (http://www.grizzly.com/products/Contractor-Style-Saw/G0732) is a bit smaller than full size, and the General International 50-090K (http://www.general.ca/products/1_general/50_tablesaw/50-090.html) is also smaller and comes with a roll away stand. The Craftsman 21829 is the latest version of the Ryobi BT3100....it has a universal motor, but is at least belt drive which helps cut some of the noise.

Other than switch saws, it might be possible to line the inside of the saw's cabinet with thick foam to help absorb some of the noise, but I don't know how well it'll work. Using a good blade with laser cut anti-noise/anti-vibration slots might help a little bit too.

Thanks very much for your reply. I will try to add some foam in the insides to see if that works.
Also you said: "Using a good blade with laser cut anti-noise/anti-vibration slots"
Are these specialised blades and could you suggest from where they might be available.
thanks a lot.
