So I bought a keychain at a local craft fair that is made of clay

Anyone know if the fumes are toxic ? The seller said burning clay gives off toxic fumes -

I'd hate to kill myself, ya know...

If the keychain was made from "polymer clay", then look at the other recent post - apparently it contains PVC and so is a no-no.

Real clay (as in "ceramics") is absolutely fine - anything horrid in it would have been burnt out during the firing process.

Craig there are quite a variety of substrates for poker chips, you may want to check on the composition.

I had no issue engraving the Soprano's poker chip, but I guess I should have researched their composition first

I may have been lucky if they were - as it does say they are clay chips....

I've done many clay poker chips with no ill effects. That I know of. :D

THe only reason I ask is I have done 500 out of a 1000 pcs set for my son and saw no issues but want to be safe.
