View Full Version : Would anyone like to win a new band saw?

Keith Outten
12-01-2012, 8:40 AM
On February 11th, 2013 we will celebrate our tenth anniversary here at The Creek. I am working diligently to put together a list of FreeStuff Drawings so we can have the largest giveaway in our history.

We have a confirmation that one of our advertisers will be giving away a new band saw plus another gesture that everyone here will be able to enjoy.
So, is this something you guys and gals are interested in?

OBTW, I have a similar thread in the engravers forum confirming that someone will win a brand new laser engraver. This prize is also confirmed.

You can see that I am trying to put together a list of tools and machines that will encourage each of you to be part of our celebration.

Keith, it always great to "see" all the invisible effort you put out to make SMC a great place to visit. Visible stuff like free goodies are always appreciated. Count me int.

A new dedicated band saw has been on my long term wish list for years. I will be one of the first to sign up. Thanks to you for all you hard work on this!

I echo the thanks of the others.
The staff here does a great job!

(W/any luck that bit of buttering up Ken F. will get me an invite to the SMC private hunting lodge :D LOL! )

Seriously though - I do need a bandsaw. It's the last major tool I need. (LOL! If there is such a thing ;) ) - so count me in!

Yes, I'm sure you will be getting lots of positive feedback. Thanks Keith.

Keith Outten

It will probably take another week for Aaron Koehl to get his part of this shindig setup and working but you should start seeing new FreeStuff threads very soon. There will also be web pages associated with the drawings with links to each machines thread so you can make sure you don't miss out on any of the machines you are interested in winning.

Although I started the thread about the Laser Engraver in the Laser Engraving Forum here everyone is welcome to register. No matter what flavor of woodworking you prefer, maybe you would like to be able to add some laser engraving to your current projects. The laser engraver is not a cheap import, it is a 60 watt machine manufactured by the most respected company in the industry.

Now I'm off to find a BIG table saw, cyclone system, wood lathe, etc, etc............maybe even a CNC Router :)

You Want To Win Right.....you must register and opt-in to win in the FreeStuff Forum thread for each machine and you must be a Contributor here to post in the FreeStuff Forum. Those who don't know what a Contributor is should click on the DONATE link on the blue menu bar at the top of any page.

Keith,

I too want to thank you for all of your hard work here and for whatever strings you have to pull to make this happen. The "Free Stuff" drawings, of course...but also this wonderful resourse called SMC. This place has, seriously, been the closest thing I will probably ever see to Shop Class or any kind of woodworking lessons.

I thank you.

My wife thanks you...everytime I make her something... ;)

Since I found "The Creek" it has been my go to place for woodworking!

I've tried a few others, but none has stood the test of time that the Creek has. Hard to express the gratitude I have for your efforts, and of the rest of 'the creekers' that so freely give of their experience.

Thank you for all you do, to make this the greatest place on the web...

Keith, I'm set in the bandsaw department but I could really use a:

12" jointer/planer with helical head

RichLine or JDS MultiRouter mortising machine

Akeda, Keller or Leigh dovetail jig

Vacuum bag/clamping kit

X# of $'s worth of tooling

more clamps!!

etc.

Thanks for all the hard work, looking forward to the anniversary celebrations.

Unless I'm mistaken, this thread isn't a "count me in" thread. It's simply Keith telling us that there are many giveaways in the works, and what do we think about that. Hold your "count me in"s for the actual threads where needed.

btw, Keith, I think it's great that you are getting things to be given away and a new bandsaw would be great (along with a host of other items!).

I'll head over the freestuff section of the site and register but I had to put in my word of thanks for your efforts with this site! You're doing great work here providing the vehicle for the woodworking community to communicate.

The week ahead should provide more prizes or the promise of more prizes as I have set aside a major portion of my schedule to contact companies that I feel will be interested in our celebration. Aaron is now back home from his trip so I hope to be able to get him to complete his work on the laser engraver registration thread and I would sure like to find a CNC Router to add to our list this week. I have almost consumed all my monthly allowance of minutes on my cell phone during the first week so I am now looking at the possibility of getting a VOIP phone for my office.

I have a few really nice T-Shirts in my inventory so I should be able to share some pictures of the tenth anniversary logo with everyone as soon as Aaron gets it ready to publish. Lots of things are starting to come together, we are definitely on our way.

Jim,

Typically a thread is opened in the "Free Stuff Drawing" Forum.....with announcement inviting people to "Opt In". Members who are "Contributors" post a reply in that thread saying some like "I'm In" or "Please include me" or something simlar. The names of the Contributors who respond to that thread are used in the drawing and one of them is selected as the winner.

I finally got the Trotec Laser Engraver FreeStuff Drawing thread done so the band saw is next on my list. Next I will pick another tool from our wish list and see what I can do to make it happen......one tool at a time folks :)

All you guys and galls who are not Contributors do yourself a favor and get your account upgraded here, surely you want to take part in the FreeStuff Drawings on February 11th......and we will be drawing a winners name for a prize on the 17th of December. You can't win or lose sitting in the bleachers so hit the donate button and get in the game :)

Keith Outten
12-12-2012, 7:20 PM
Halgeir,

Yes, all Contributors and Friends Of The Creek are eligible to win. If you live outside of the continental United States you may have to pay additional shipping charges, import taxes, etc. The decision is up to the vendor who is sponsoring the prize if they are willing to pay any additional fees. Should you decline to pay the additional shipping costs we would then draw another winners name.
