OK, another newbie question, is there such a thing as a wipe on shellac formula? I love using shellac, but really have a tough time with brush marks on larger pieces because it dries so quickly. Can anyone offer advice on how to get a smooth finish on a large piece without a HVLP sprayer? Thanks in advance for any advice offered!

I just thin it a little more with alcohol and wipe it on with a lintless rag. Let it dry and wipe on some more. Sand lightly with extra fine and apply more. Build up the look you want. If you want real gloss just keep adding coats.

Well...yea! "Padding" is an example of wipingon Shellac and I've also done it with a simple lint-free paper towel on several occasions. I've also used it on turnings by wiping on. Shellac is a very versatile finish that can be brushed, wiped or sprayed on, depending on your needs and desires.
