I cut up a piece of cottonwood from the barn and roughed some blanks. This little piece was left over and I thought it was too pretty to burn. It's my first shot at a flat bottom and I missed by a mile. More domed with tearout. No square scraper in my arsenal (hint to the fetching Mrs. Herzberg). Also my first completed CA finish, also not perfect.

3" x 2" CA, HF white buffing compound, Carnauba wax. C&C appreciated.

Sorry for the poor photos - the AF on my pocket camera can't seem to lock on to this grain pattern. Does anyone know of an inexpensive camera with manual exposure and manual focus options?

It's so tiny!! One of the nicest pieces of cottonwood I've seen. Any M&M would be proud to hang out in there!

You are your own worst critic. I think the form it great and the finish looks good from the picture. Not familiar with cottonwood, it looks a lot like silver maple.

I have turned a couple pieces of cottonwood but it didn't have such great color!

I'm with Fred here. You are your own worst critic. It looks good to me. It's a cool shape for a small and great figure in that cottonwood.
