View Full Version : How would you clamp this?

I had a devil of a time clamping these rt. angle joints because the crown trim of the clock frame is not straight. I glued all three pieces at the same time. The side trim is just like a picture frame, and that wasn't the problem. I was hesitant to glue the crown trim, let it dry then do the side trim later. I normally like to get corners that are dependent on each other done at the same time. That way I can measure corner to corner and put clamping pressure to adjust before it dries. But after the difficulty of doing this all at once, I guess that's the way to go in this type of application. If you would do this all at once, where/how would you place clamps, tape, etc. Thanks for any suggestions.

I would probably drive a couple of pin nails that sit below the surface; two at each corner perhaps. You can easily cover those tiny holes with sawdust mixed with a bit of finish (e.g. shellac).
