So. . .over the past week, I've had two pleasant surprises.

1) Got new Sigma Power stones from Stu. They are awesome and make the keenest edge I have yet to see. Fast little puppies, too.
2) Got my BadAxe saws back from Mark. I had to send them back because the handles were too small. All I have to say is "wow". . .the bigger handles fit so much better and they are so much easier to control!

Just had to share. Oh, and a gratuitous tool porn shot can be found here:

Those are puuuuurty! Just don't try to double your fun by trying to use your new stones to sharpen your new saws - that could end badly;)

Gah, you're killing me. I'm holding out hope my bad axe saw shows up around Christmas time. That sure looks purdy.

@Chris> Hahahaha. . .that made me laugh.

@Rick> I hope you like yours as much as I like mine. The first set of saws I got, I was apprehensive about because the handle was just a smidge too small and I kept wanting to make the saw go somewhere. The ones I just got back. . .wow. . .they have made me solidly believe they are well worth the wait and the best saws you can get.

Mark posted up on his Facebook page a video of him demonstrating a two-handed rip technique where you basically get the saw about an inch into the wood and then pistol-grip it and go. . .works marvelously. The really awesome thing is that the saws are heavy enough to just sink into the wood. I was using 8/4 hickory for the test cuts, and they came out parallel every time, all the way to the back. Honestly, I really didn't need much paraffin to wax up the saw it tracked down a cut that well.

How long did it take to get them???

I had them shipped SAL (the middle option) and was expecting 2-3 weeks.

Imagine my surprise when they showed up in 6 days. :O

Pleasantly surprised indeedy. We're in the same region (I'm in MD), so I can't imagine it would take much longer for you to get them.

I found out about a day ago my 220 Select II is on its way. Hopefully it will make short work of the D2 mortise chisel I have and be a sweetheart when it comes to re-beveling my chisels (I am scared to death of overheating on a power grinder).
