serial is JC8173 , model 34-388 HP 2 VOLTS 115-230.

is for sale on craigslist near me for 90$, in decent shape table looks a little rusty. I already have a delta 2000 series contractor saw. but was wondering if that would be good deal to pick up. what is that saw worth? pros and cons over my delta contractor saw? any other ideas or help would be great thanks.

Other than gaining some cutting height capacity, isn't it pretty similar to your Delta contractor saw? If the motor runs, it's probably worth $90.

For that price I would snatch it up, clean it up, and use it. Especially since it is single phase. Most saws in this range are 3 phase. You could also sell your existing saw and get some new blades with the money.

it is enough nicer of a saw to bee worth doing that? My delta has alot bigger table. if I bought it I would like to have it be set up as rip saw keep delta for crosscut. this is link with pics. http://saginaw.craigslist.org/tls/3413930342.html

I was just looking at the same saw, but here in CLE. The ad had no pictures but said 12" Rockwell TS, and after emailing the seller I found it to be basically a contractors saw but with a 12" blade. After more research I found it was a model that was only made for two years or so and wasn't what I was looking for so I passed.

Don't forget to factor all new blades and dado set into the math. Chances are the 12" has a 1" bore, so you can forget about using your 10", 5/8 bore stuff.

I'd hold out for a good 3 hp cabinet saw. I worked with a contractor saw for years thinking I didn't have tha space for a cabinet saw. It turns out the cabinet saw actually has a smaller footprint because the motor isn't hanging off the back. And the extra horse is nice to have as well. Hope this helps.
