Plywood Christmas Ornament

This is an ornament made from segmented birch plywood and walnut. It's about 1.75" x 6", finished with deft gloss lacquer.

One never tires seeing your ornaments Curt. I have been looking at you old threads for the last couple of days studyin up. I want to spend some time making a few for holiday gifts. You do some nice work on these and your tutorials are very good. Like the plywood idea very cool.

I really enjoy seeing your clever ornaments, always beautiful. I recently made a bell ornament with the thin plywood insert that you described in your tutorial. It gave me a real appreciation for how precise the section angles must be and their subsequent alignment during glue up in order to have the plywood lines look so uniform at the section boundaries. There is more than meets the eye in your great pieces.

That's really nice. The plywood gives it a neat look. Did you do anything special to the black walnut? It looks like it might be dyed?

Steve, that is some pretty dark black walnut, but my lack of photography skills seem to always make walnut look black.
