I know typically the HF clamps have been reviewed as somewhat bad. But I saw these yesterday and thought I'd pass them along. Ken if this violates the link policy I apologize, but I don't think it does. I think this is a nice deal even if it is a helping hand.

Thanks for the post Keith, I don't have any hand screws at the moment. I could use some though. I may have to have a look at these.

Japanwoodworker is another good source (house brand, they sell 2 brands). I'm local to them so I don't worry about shipping.....If you purchase 5 or more (IIRC), they'll discount. The pricing isn't as good as HF's sale pricing but they've got a better selection of sizes and I've found them to work quite well.

I have a couple of these and I wouldn't purchase them again. They seem to bind up very easily and even if they don't bind they are very hard to turn. I also have some Craftsman and Jorgies and they work excellent. The nice thing about HF though is if you don't like them you can take them back no questions asked.

last time i ordered from them this same item came to me from China and were such bad reproductions of the jorgensons that i have. I was very disappointed, they collect dust. along with most of my other lame, under $10, too good to pass up deals from them. be careful when choosing.

I have an 8" hand screw fro HF, use it quite a bit, no complaints. I must admit I have not used a Jorgie hand screw so can't make a comparison.

I have several of these clamps and several Jorgies. I have found that like most things from HF, you have to do a little work on them to make them work well. After running them back and forth several times with a little cutting oil on the threads and waxing the wood and the threads, the function is nearly identical to the Jorgies. I don't have any as small as the ones in this ad though.

Not trying to hijack the thread but somewhere I saw the hardware for sale to make your own hand screws. Does anyone know who sells it?
